my taxes are very simple (no kids helps) and I submitted my returns on 2/1/24. IRS has approved my refund today and the money should be in my bank on Friday.

nice

I am meeting with the IRS next wednesday to prove my identity and receive my 2022 refund that I filed for 12 months ago (which can take up to 9 weeks after we meet)

yeah we file married but separate or whatever because of my wife's student loans. I did mine already and they were simple. Got boned a little bit on my severance putting me over income threshold to have to pay an extra 0.9% for medicare tax or something. First world problems but still annoying. My refund is coming by end of week.

My wife will do her taxes this weekend probably and should also be straightforward.

W2s and some minor investment income/dividends. Childcare and student loan deductions.
I think I've spent more time and effort getting all my documents and forms to the tax preparer than if I'd have just filed my own taxes. They had a literal 5 page long questionnaire. Can't I just give you all my paperwork and you figure it out.

Also, PA has a $600 child tax credit? Cool.

I have 650 bucks burning a hole in the IRS’s pocket but I need my wife’s W-2 for the one day she worked in 2023 before I can file. Her new company is not being very cooperative in sharing that info

Isn't it a law they have to provide by February 15?

PA will match Federal. Last year I think it was only 35%. It was a nice boost.

When I dumped it into turbo tax to get a rough idea it said $1200 PA return (I have 2 dependants). Perhaps my income level is phased out. I agree, solid boost.

PA matches your credit on your federal return so it follows the same phase out. Last year they only did 30% (think I had that number wrong). So 1,200 on Federal last year got 360 on the state, but gets you 1,200 this year.

You have to submit the 2241 and Schedule 3 from your 1040 with it (2 schedules that show child care credit information).

One day she worked or was paid? Big difference.

It's a good thing we had our solar credit/home improvement stuff done, otherwise we'd have owed close to $2k. Both of us now have to bump our withholding $40/paycheck.

She could have worked 12 days in 2023 but if first pay was January 2nd, no W2. Did she get a paycheck in 2023 from them?

A week after E filing IRS Track my Refund doesn't have my information. I received a notice in October I owed $6k+ in tax (pretty sure it's wrong) sent in documentation and they need more time as of January. I'm only assuming my refund will be held up until they're done figuring that out. Complete BS

That's weird, ordinarily the fedgov is known for its timeliness and efficiency especially under moderately abnormal conditions.

Ironically enough they had zero delay in cashing the $100 check I sent with the documents disputing their claim (I had forgot one or two minor things plus made a major error). They cashed it in November. In January they said they needed more time. I'm assuming in April I'll hear they again need more time.

Same for when you owe taxes, they get their money immediately. Our return was submitted a week ago, and it still has yet to be approved.

Mine took a little over 3 weeks from submitted to refund in account.

State...I'll be lucky to see the refund before the Pirates come out like gangbusters.
