has this sort of idiocy become a thing? I heard a story on the news this morning in ATL about a woman who called the fire department to move a pillow from one couch to another.

I still get a kick out of the ones where they call 9-1-1 from, like, the Wendy's drive-through because they're out of chicken nuggies.

Almost died on the way to work this morning. I was driving down the hill just past the Marathon on Peebles Rd when some mongoloid thought it would be a good idea to speed up and go around a garbage truck THAT WAS MOVING AND NOT PICKING UP CANS. The moron almost ran into me head-on, and barely squeaked past the garbage truck and back onto the correct side of the road.

Ho-ly...glad you're all right. Depending on the truck/company, it's slightly possible they have video of that actually...a lot more cameras in-truck/on-truck these days...

Glad that didn't end up ugly, yikes.

You see stuff like that way too often.

Yeah what a dicey situation. Hate that. I'm honestly surprised there aren't more accidents (than there already are). People suuuuck at driving and everything about driver's tests is basically a joke.

That's what I wish that tv show was really about.

Cases like Om's are why I don't even bother trying to pass a stopped truck going up a hill. Too dangerous, essentially passing blind.

I wish I had stopped recording on my dash cam so that I could upload it. But it never occurred to me lol.

Lately when I click a link to a website (usually going to a news site) I get the standard Chrome "This page can't be reached" error screen. I have to refresh the page 4-8x before it finally loads. It happens on a variety of sites, so I suspect it's something with my computer or browser. I'm using Adblock Plus but no other plugins. No vpn. Any ideas on what might be causing it? It's been an ongoing issue for a week or more.

Switch to Firefox. Chrome doesn't play well with any ad blockers these days plus it continues to be a CPU hog. I used to use Firefox back in the day before switching to Chrome. I went back to Firefox once YouTube blocked adblockers and it's been great.

I would switch to uBlock origin. I briefly switched to Firefox, but didn't like it. Lots of weird glitchiness loading pages, no easy way to separate my work Google login and personal, and just felt slower. Currently, uBlock is working with Chrome as intended, but if Google does shut it down as expected, I'll be back over to Firefox.

Switch to uBlock Origin, for starters.

I love Firefox, and have used it as my main browser for decades. The only issue I do have with it is the ridiculously delayed tweets, which only happens on this particular forum.

Interesting... Still, chrome was a huge CPU suck on my mac. My laptop would suddenly sound like a jet engine despite running nothing except Chrome.

I just ported everything over to Firefox and there's a dramatic improvement in speed. Pretty amazing, really.

Because I’m old and don’t want to search. Can I do Firefox with ublock on iPhone? I use Brave right now but from what the kids say, it’s chromium and garbage.

Firefox has containers now that allow you to do just this.

They also have a really sweet way of separating those two logins called "don't do personal s**t on an employer-issued device". (edit: And don't do work stuff with your personal stuff)

Allegheny county PA is only unique because it's an uncommon spelling of Alleghany/Allegany.
