A competent OC that can design the offense around their strengths seems obvious
Upgrading Cole, also obvious
Replacing Johnson and Robinson should be easy. Johnson is good, they can probably get a late round pick for him, the dude is just a cancer and needs to be somewhere else while they figure things out on offense.
Spend money to fix the middle defense, seems like they should be able to restructure Cam, Minkah, and Watt to free up some money. And if they can get out of some of those worthless players contract (Mitch, Robinson, Chuks, Johnson). Safety and LB upgrades aren't like "nice to have" at this point in that you can wait for the draft. The rd1 pick should be corner back, and ILB, S, and C should be fully addressed by that point. Then you can look at things like DEs, NT, and WR with the mid round picks.

there just aren't really MLBs that go early anymore. If there's a unicorn, I'm in for it. But give me OL and CB imo. C would be nice, maybe you can sign one, an LT would be goodTroy Loney wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 8:53 am The rd1 pick should be corner back, and ILB, S, and C should be fully addressed by that point. I enjoyed Dionte celebrating first downs while down by multiple scores in a playoff game. Really provides a certain energy.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cam is done.

Rd1 pick is likely CB.
ILB, S, and C should be addressed in FA ahead of the draft.

Yeah, that's why the Benton pick ends up being so important.MrKennethTKangaroo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 9:00 amAnd if he does retire that is certainly a setback for this team.

During his post game press conference, he stressed how difficult this season was and how his mind wants to play but his body is lagging behind. He also said that he won't play for another coach so if those Tomlin rumors actually play out (doubt), he's definitely gone.MrKennethTKangaroo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 9:00 amAnd if he does retire that is certainly a setback for this team.

The ILBs were good to start the year, then they all got injured. We certainly need more depth there, though.

I wouldn't doubt it. He played what, mostly third downs last night

Could be more of a wake up call than a “I need to retire”
I mean, if we really wanted to point the fingers at the players whose underperformance (relative to salary, role, and expectations) set the team back. It might actually be cam, minkah, and Johnson at the top of that list ahead of Pickett.
Johnson needs to be gone. But thinking minkah and cam need to get their bodies in better shape ahead of the season to manage the effects of aging

I know it was an anomaly but I did chuckle at Minkah's arm tackle that led to a TD.

I'm in for continuing to build the offense. You can get by with a middle of the pack defense. You can't get by with an offense that can't score points when it has to.willeyeam wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 8:55 amthere just aren't really MLBs that go early anymore. C, LT, WR, QB all high on my list.

Did Minkah even have a great year? I don't feel like he did, but I don't know enough about that position and his stats are just OK compared to historical Minkah. He takes away sections of the field, I guess.Troy Loney wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 9:48 am Could be more of a wake up call than a “I need to retire”

His absence was felt. But his missed tackle last night was horrible.

There was also the arm tackle on Allen that wasn’t mentioned, but it wasn’t Minkah so it gets a pass

I don't think they'll change coaches until the team is in a much better position to succeed.

The national media takes about McCarthy staying versus Tomlin staying are….something. Only one I’ve seen calling it out.
