Brandon Hill opts out of the Sun Bowl and is off to the NFL.

He was one of my favorites to watch among this recent defensive corps. He was thrown into the deep end when Paris Ford quit and he ended up bringing some much-needed stability to the safety position. I thought he and Hallett played off each other really well most of the time, too, especially during the 2021 season.

There's talk that he's got an agent telling him he's going to be a second-round pick. Even as a fan of his, I think that's ridiculously high even if he tests out well at his pro day/combine. That said, he does have the speed to play at the next level so we'll see.

As expected, Izzy, Deslin Alexandre, and Voss all opt out of the Sun Bowl and declare for the NFL Draft.



All terrific players and ambassadors for the program and for the school, and I hope all three have nothing but success at the next level. These three have all been a lot of fun to watch these last few years.

He's a 3-star prospect on Rivals, rated 5.5 (mid 3-star). 6'5", 225 lb. DE from Cardinal Newman HS in West Palm Beach.

In all seriousness, talk on PL is that Partridge really wanted this kid, saying he reminded the coaches a lot of Rashad Weaver when Weaver was coming out of HS. Gracio's only other P5 offers were Illinois and Purdue but if Partridge wants him, that's more than good enough for me.

I didn't realize how god damn big he is. I could see him being a late round pick or free agent signing due to size and upside, but to me he was never more than another dude on an underwhelming offensive line. A guy like Hargrove was significantly more accomplished and he failed out of the NFL and Canada.

Agree about Houy's size as it projects pretty well to the NFL. I think his biggest issue has been his health. For a guy who feels like he's been here forever, PL said he had 29 starts, he missed five games this past season, and I don't think he was ever really close to 100% when he did play. But I do agree...he never really struck me as someone who was consistently dominant enough to draw NFL interest.

Random jabronis opting out of the bowl game for "the draft" is definitely a new level. Gabe Houy playing in the bowl and breaking his legs into a thousand pieces would have zero impact on his non-existent draft stock.
