Johnson 28
Priester 88

That’s a jump, he was around 20 going into the season, so he was on the radar after 2021, but then just took a massive leap this year.Fangraphs just put Ortiz as number 50 in their top 100 prospects. And Endy at 33 over Davis at 36
Johnson 28
Priester 88
Peguero 89
Gonzalez 101
Also should note that this isn’t a full update because Matt Frazier is still a top 10 pirate prospect. His flop will likely move him down considerably.

that's what i thought. are we going to start talking about Ortiz instead of priester and burrows? i mean if so that's awesome for the buccos. priester isn't dominating in the k/9 area so i'm fine with his stock slipping in this kind of ranking since i'm still very high on him. but if ortiz really is this good now what a boon to the org. and it can completely change how people feel about the year's results for the system

Yeah if Ortiz is actually legit and we have a top 50 guy knocking on the door with Priester and Burrows I feel pretty good. I'll need to see some more to really believe that though

I'm just spending time at baseball savant looking at pirates sprint speeds and throwing velocity etc. Chavis was weirdly fast. Hayes makes hay on dribblers in front of him. Suwinski was fast, hit hard and has an arm. Hayes makes the most consistent hard contact but all on the ground. Maybe the no shift will help or better he'll tweak his swing.

Considering that Davis still signed the kid's hat, I have zero problem with this.Lame
I might feel differently if he snubbed the kid completely or wrote this on the hat. It's one thing to have a kid run up to a player and ask for his autograph, but having a kid show up with a sleeved ball with no idea who the player is isn't a good look to me.
If anything, his dad now has a 1 of 1 autograph from him.

i see both sides. Adults using kids for autographs is super lame. but, when I was 6, did I know minor league players? probably not. Would my dad have said hey he's a good one, go ask him to sign your ball? probably.. doing something good for me the kid, not for himself, but I can see how it would seem that way. Guessing Davis might have seen this guy before maybe

I read the story. Still stings today. But even if they won that game and the World Series, we'd still be at 30 years of ineptitude.

Imagine being a Pirates fan in the middle of Braves country in 1992. That sucked.

I never trust/listen to what the GM or higher for the Pirates say anymore. It's all spin, BS, lying, whatever you want to call it. They're going to be cheap, and they're not going to seriously address 1B. Post that in a tweet, Mackey.

I mean, there's no reason at this point to even consider that this means they are going to pursue a meaningful upgrade. But I guess Cherington isn't going to be like, 'we're excited to see what players are left available to play 1B in February when the unsigned guys are just looking to latch on somewhere".
