I was ill the week that the Omicron wave peaked in Allegheny County, but I didn't get tested at the time, so I don't know if that was Covid or not. I haven't been sick since then, and I've never had an official positive test, so maybe me.

Either haven't had it, or been asymptomatic when exposed to others and didn't test positive when tested.

I either had it before it was a thing in January 2020 or haven’t had it.

Neither of us have had it. And we've been testing pretty regularly for several months now, burning through those at-homes.

If I have ever had it I've been asymptomatic. I've been sick several times since COVID started, done outside and home testing each time and never been positive. My son is the only one in my household who has ever tested positive, after a Christmas party with his friends.

At-home testing when you don't have symptoms is almost as baffling as not testing when you do have symptoms.

But you know you have had an exposure, and you know there's a chance you have it and may spread it to others.

I think you're overthinking this...

In May, GF and I flew home from Vegas unmasked right next to an unmasked buddy of mine that tested positive the day after the flight. I never tested positive or had symptoms and neither did my gf.

So after that episode, I don't know what to say.

The way I understand at-home tests is that they're very unlikely to detect an asymptomatic infection. Probably better to get a PCR to confirm that.

Correct. If you were exposed and have concerns but zero symptoms, at-home tests are coinflips. Go get a PCR test if that's your concern. If you have zero symptoms, don't do at home tests. It's wasteful.

Pretty sure the official guidance is to not test unless you have symptoms

Yeah I'm not sure why one would test without symptoms even if you think it's only a "possibility" you may have been exposed.

If you know for a fact your were exposed to someone with Covid... I think CDC says to test after 5 days or something.

I mean people can do whatever they want, but to just randomly test seems silly.

None of the four of us have had anything obvious. Just a few sinus infections that were relatively short-lived.

Who said I'm randomly testing? It was deliberate based on exposures to people who were positive at that time.

I wasn't pointing to you directly. It was just a general comment, but more pointed towards Tif based on what he said.

In any event...it doesn't effect me at all so people can do whatever they want.

Alls I'm saying is without symptoms, an at-home negative test doesn't mean much. May as well save your tests and assume a negative result, or go get a PCR if you really need to be sure.
