Steelers 2021-2022 Offseason Discussion

Gives them the ability to wait and draft some lineman now. Trubisky/Mason, I don't really care. They're both "bad" and neither stop you from getting a higher pick.
I hope you are right. The Steelers can't afford to have journeyman at QB like they did between Bradshaw and Ben. They need a year or two of sucking to stock up the system and reload for future runs at the SB.
Teams don't get franchise QBs every draft or ever really. This is a low-risk, decent upside deal that doesn't stop the Steelers from really doing anything they want to do going forward.
Yes. Finding franchise QBs is actually not easy, people forget. Take a look at some of the first rounders here

I don't know anything about MT but can he be worse that Ben was last year? That in itself should improve the team so I don't see them sucking to the point they will get a top five pick.
IIRC someone on twitter said.

Ben's career rating, 93.5.

Trubisky's last full season, 93.5.

At worst, he's going to be no worse than Ben was his last two years, imo.

lol as usual Poni of Team B is having a melt-down, further cementing in my mind that Team B doesn't know **** about context/sports.

This is a logical move, it means nothing really past two years and lets them try and figure things out further.

I mean. What else were they going to do? They need a NFL QB. The titty kisser is one.

Who's having a melt down? The reaction I've seen ranges from "meh" to "eh"

Exactly. He's basically going rate for a guy who's a starter in the NFL. It's pretty clear here what the team is doing, this is a team that's nowhere near contender status. Trubisky, is likely relatively cheap for a starter if not just going rate.

It's a no big deal move to me, imo.

Oh Poni and Mueller - the first time I've listened in literal years, are being insufferable pricks right now.

Hopefully it’s cheap. That’s my only concern. And when I say cheap I’m saying less than 10 per

I simply can't bring myself to care about this move enough to even bother giving an opinion. Let's see what they do on draft day.

Average QB Salary for 2021 looked to be around $13mm. If they sign Trubisky for $10mm, then good. There's just nothing in this move that really negatively bothers me.

Also, lol:

Who exactly did people think the Steelers were going to get? I don't know many teams eager to part with a good QB.

Steelers fans and various media personalities thought that this team was only a QB away. Which is incredibly wrong - given the defensive statistics, the offensive line, the depleted WR core.

The Steelers gave up zero assets to get a starting QB. I'll take that every day of the week, and they can continue to beat themselves off building through the draft, yadda yadda.

The signing isn't even 'meh' enough to make a thud noise.

Not that I had any contrary expectations or anything, but....... I sorta fear that this is sufficient to make them competitive enough for a playoff berth (again), and that's it. They'll be the 6th or 7th seed, lose on the road in the Wildcard, not improve their draft stakes, lather-rinse-repeat.

I’m fine with him being the bandaid QB… this isn’t a win now kind of team anyways. It’ll be a mini rebuild.

Colbert knows he doesn't have to resign every Steeler, right? I know Dan likes to keep jersey costs down but he can let a few go now and then.

I guess the Chuks deal isn’t bad if they think he’s improving. Somehow dude is only 24! 8-9 million per for a starting right tackle is cheap.

They need to do something at guard and center though

As a man who’s last name can easily get b*tch worked into it, I can tell you that it’s not something he hasn’t already heard his entire life.
