Well Sanchez went to Milwaukee so this was all a waste of time

It's okay though we have a good backup catcher and rowdy tellez who needs Sanchez or Hoskins anyway

If you can't get excited about a Rowdy Tellez/Connor Joe first base platoon, I can't help you

The Pirates have agreed to a minor-league deal with right-handed pitcher Brent Honeywell, according to MLB Network's Jon Morosi.
He's set to earn a $1.25 million salary in the majors and has an invite to major-league camp.

I am skeptical of holderman but I’m less skeptical if he’s pitching in the seventh. Especially when you think about some of the middle inning arms that have drifted through this organization over the past few years.
Mlodzinski or whatever is good too

Yeah. If Chapman is the 8th inning guy, your 7th is any combo of Mlodzinski, holderman, money moreta, borucki or Hernandez. I guess there have been a bunch of articles on Tellez and he's a statcast darling or something. I read the one yesterday on fangraphs.
Ok so on one side:
Still 28
Awesome max EV
1 year removed from 35hr
Fld% last 2 years was 99.8 and 99.6
Solid walk rate
Cherry pick his numbers last year before right forearm injury and finger surgery:
Take out his first 10 games in April and the next 44 games he hit 143ab 10hr .865ops (April 13-jun 4th) he says he played through pain somewhere near the slump that began after this
On the other hand:
His 35hr year netted a .767ops and a 0.8war
So what are we hoping for here? Of course that would be welcome but noone expects to get a full bounce back and if he does he's Connor Joe value.
That fielding percentage value gives me some hope. Having maybe league worst range and speed sucks but my main concern is soft hands and the reach he brings at 6'4 to catch Cruz.
And it turns out his expected HRs would be lower at PNC Park. 26 instead of 35. And 11 instead of 13.
Here's the article on him yesterday saying he needs to swing less. Something the buccos hitting coach must be all over

I’m going to ignore LL’s desperate attempt to make rowdy look anything less than stinky
With that in mind happy pitchers and catchers report day you idiots. One of the two finest fake holidays on the kangaroos calendar
