Hopefully this score stands. I have 5 goals for the Pens Predictor.

Pretty sure Scuds could have done that too.

Hagelin was the key this entire time...

Really good win. Thought the baby pens call ups were decent. Daley continues to impress.
Good work Gaucho.

What a satisfying win.
Watching the replay of the Sid goal...if that isn't a distinct kicking motion I don't know what is. Regardless, great win.

I don't think it was a distinct kicking motion at all.
A distinct kicking motion implies literally kicking the puck at the goal. Looking at the play, it looks like his leg is sliding forward to slow himself down, and the puck deflected off of it. I don't see how that would be considered a kicking motion, but this is the NHL. What is considered a kicking motion one game may not be in another game.

The way I interpret the rule, it's entirely possible to direct a puck into the net without kicking it into the net and have it count as a goal. It looked to me that Sid could have done this.

In past years that's been called a kick. I'm happy they called it a goal but I expected it to get reversed.

I move to allow the firing of guns indoors so long as you only aim through an open window.Source of the post If that is the reason, I think they should change it to allow kicking if you don't lift your skate

You're allowed to "redirect" the puck into the goal with your skate. The rule prevents a player from deliberately kicking a loose puck into the goal soccer-style. That is perfectly understandable, too, because if I were a defender or a goalie, the last thing I'd want is some 6'4'' 225 pound forward kicking at me with his skates as I was trying to defend a loose puck in the crease. Sid hardly did anything like that. It was a redirection.I don't think it was a distinct kicking motion at all.

I think that you would have to kick it with the toe of your skate or purposefully swipe it with the side of the skate blade for it to be a non-goal, He simply redirected it.
