Crosby and Scoring Race

The rumors of his demise seem to have been greatly exaggerated.

As of tonight, Crosby is tied for 5th in points, 7th in goals,

is 6 points from 2nd place in scoring and cut Kane's lead down to 23 (was over 30 last week),

is only 8 goals away from the goal scoring lead,

is only 8 points away from the assists lead.

I admit, I was questioning him back in November and December. Quite a turnaround.

I will admit that I was one of those who suggested they explore the trade market for him earlier in the season. But in my defense, I did stipulate that they should try a different coach or two before pulling the trigger.

You should make a new thread about it.

it wasn't exactly reactionary to get on sid's case in a heavy way this year. he hasn't been playing to his potential in what...a year and a half? 2 years, maybe?

prime example was the stretch run last season - how many of us expected him to pull away with the Ross only to peter out? Something was amiss. And it isn't now. So let's watch what happens next.

Wasn't it widely known he was injured last year?

He had the mumps. Pretty much everyone who was affected by it either tailed off toward the end of last year or started out slow this year.

are you actually saying that you believe the mumps contributed to his slow start this year?

If Mike Johnston is a mump, then yes. It contributed.

Not really. Just pointing out the possible coincidence between players who had mumps and the slow start those players had this year.

I thought it was his wrist thing but after looking it up that came out after the 13-14 season. I could swear something came out after last year injury related but maybe I just got the 2 years mixed up.

Tied for 7th in points and still has a reasonable shot at cracking the top 5 in goals. :thumb:

A little splash of water on him the last few games.

He has an outside chance of reaching 40 goals, which amazingly would only be the second time in his career he's done that. I'm interested to see how he works with Kessel now that they aren't playing like total ass.

slight hijack - since barring a good streak he won't catch Benn or Seguin or Karlsson (11, 8, 8 back), sitting 5 outside the top 5:

14 assists to 600. 20 games left on the season. Can he get there with 15 metro games left?
3 - NYR, PHI, NYI
2 - WAS, NJD
1 - CBJ, CAR

Out of Metro:
1e DET, OTT, CGY, BUF, NSH

Probably, he's been quietly connecting with Hornqvist on some goals lately.

That's our remaining schedule...? Those teams are ass butt...Rangers, Capitals, Mrazek's Red Wings but not Howard's and Nashville are good or better...the rest of those teams are human garbage...

If we don't make the playoffs, the team should try a different sport...

Crosby has been doing very well since the new year, 33pts. However, Kane has 29pts over that time. Crosby has only gained 4 points on him. Karlsson has 27, Benn 19, Seguin 18.
