What's the magic number? 12?
I haven't been paying attention.
Is posting pictures the same here? It took me 7 years to figure it out at the old site.

hmmm... let's see here. Boston is the 9th seed 84 points with 9 left to play. That's 84+18=102. Pens are at 91 points, so I think it'd be 12, right?

Ottawa maxes out at 100, Pens have 95 points now and own the tie break, so 5 right?

yup, if they beat Ottawa in regulation tomorrow, they're in. If it's in OT, the magic number becomes 1.

I feel much worse after the **** show they gave us this past weekend.I feel much better after this weekend.
If this team does not win tonight that might be it. Not beating the Isles and relying on beating the Sabres to squeek in will fail.

Yeah, after this weekend, all my good feelings went away. But I still think we'll pull out a win tonight.I feel much worse after the **** show they gave us this past weekend.I feel much better after this weekend.

Sens have to go 3-0 to end the season and the Pens 0-3 to not make it. If that happens though, I'll just have to shake my head.

Send need to beat the Flyers and we lose to Isles and Sabres in regulation. I can see that happening.

Fortunately, Pens have the ROW tiebreaker right now by 1 over Boston so if tied in points best Boston would have done was even up the ROW. Next tiebreak is points in head to head games, which I don't even recall but with only 3 games probably isn't favorable to the Pens, and last is goal differential, which only favors the Pens by 6 goals.

If the Bruins lose tonight, the Pens magic number is 1, correct?

Okay, things are getting a little weird with Boston possibly losing tonight. The magic number would be 1 or 2 if I'm reading the tie breaker rules correctly:
1. The fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage).
Doesn't matter at the end of the season
2. The greater number of games won, excluding games won in the Shootout. This figure is reflected in the ROW column.
Pens are at 38, Boston at 37. Let's assume the Pens get OTL or non-ROW and the Bruins win their final game... then they'd be tied
3. The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs. If two clubs are tied, and have not played an equal number of home games against each other, points earned in the first game played in the city that had the extra game shall not be included. If more than two clubs are tied, the higher percentage of available points earned in games among those clubs, and not including any "odd" games, shall be used to determine the standing.
This is the one that confuses me... Pens and Bruins have played 3 times. We beat them there, they beat us both times here. If I'm reading this correctly, the two games that are considered are our OTW in Boston and their 2-0 win in Pittsburgh, so they'd win this tie breaker
4. The greater differential between goals for and against for the entire regular season.
If I'm not reading #3 incorrectly and this one matters, then we are currently winning this one
