I would be it's concussion. The fact that no reporter is questioning it is strange too.
Apathy. Bennett is hurt. Sun comes up. Etc. Etc.

It's just quite weird in my opinion. In the end, it will probably end up being nothing major, which makes it all the more questionable as to why the Penguins are handling it in this way.

TIOPS is reporting that Bennett has a reoccurring shoulder problem. If that is the case, what is the problem with saying he has an upper body injury, and will be out for a few weeks?

I've asked Molinari, Mackey, Yohe, and DK what's with all the secrecy with this injury.

Molinari told me that they can continue to ask about it, but they can't force the team to answer.

Mackey only responded to my joke, asking if Bennett was some international spy that needed secrecy.

Yohe ignored my question, probably because I told him last week he was slacking and getting beat by Mackey and Molinari in morning skate coverage. He replied he had strep throat, but honestly, since DK hired a bunch of people to cover different aspects, I've been far less impressed with his site...but that's a story for another time.

DK has had a live questions at 5pm segment for a few weeks, by simply commenting on his post on his site. He replies to 90% of what is posted there, and usually skips only questions already asked or just stupid questions (trade rumors and the like). He skipped my question. A few others showed interest in knowing the answer, but he did not reply.

It almost seems to me that at this point, maybe something is known, but the media has been told it is off the record. Otherwise, I don't quite get the secrecy on it, and the media doesn't seem to care or think it's a big deal either.

Telling the media something off the record seems like a surefire way to get it out there, On the other hand, telling the media nothing simply creates a lot of interest in something that really isn't that interesting at all.

I would bet it's a concussion. The Pens can't afford to let anyone know they let another concussion case play a few games.

That was my guess on page 2. A concussion that either they missed or Bennett hid from them, or a substance abuse issue. Those are the only 2 things I can think of that would require some level of secrecy. The concussion really shouldn't have any secrecy, unless they are trying to keep quiet that they didn't go through proper protocol. Substance abuse, and I'm not saying that is the reason at all, could have some legal ramifications that things need to not be made public.

Other than that, the team is just asking for questions as to why it was handled this way.

Wish I could find one of those clips from Conan of the "Celebrity Secrets" to post in here.

lol Mackey getting pissy with people for asking about Bennett even tho it was expected he wouldnt be there today. This coming from the guy who updated fans last year that "Blake Comeu is on the bench at practice handing out water bottles."

This guy is made of balsa wood and styrofoam. Seriously. Go back and watch this goal and his "celebration." He raised his arms and gently skated into the glass. He went face/chest first. Didn't even use his shoulder (which is what TIOPS reported was hurt). He could have easily skated that hard into the boards coming back to his spot in warm ups. Now, if he went into the boards with the force that Sprong did, well, that would still be sad, but less pathetic. How this guy can even absorb a check is amazing.

And, all this dumb hiding of his injury for this????? All the team had to say was he tweaked something during his goal against Montreal. Didn't have to say the celebration, just say during the goal.

So... that should make people not want to know what is going on with the players of a team that tehy potentially put a lot of time and money into supporting?

One might want to know some details about player health/physical status when making a decision on whether dropping $200-$300 on taking the family to a game, or $20-$30 on snacks at Giant Eagle and watching the game at home.

I do not understand the confusion/annoyance some have over fans wanting to know what an injury is.

I don't think a family is going to pay to only see Beau Bennett.
