There’s alot of guys that we can target as problems for the year but I’ve decided Reilly Smith is my number 1.

His **** body language out there is just soooo bad. The rumors that he never wanted to be traded here is one thing, but to mope around like he has for an entire season is something. At this point I would give him up for basically nothing just to get him out of Pittsburgh
He had a play with about 6-7 mins left where there was nobody between him and the net on the backhand and he didn’t even look that way. He just flipped the puck back to the point. I liked this pickup when it happened but since October ended, he’s been trash.

Rakell really has a knack for getting hit hard

How many guys have the Pens acquired that turned out to be turds pretty quickly the last few years? Is that a talent thing or a coach thing?

Mcginn, Smith, Graves, Kapanen, Granlund, Petry.

Rakell did enough to earn another check and vanished. Feels like there’s too many guys to count that just haven’t performed relative to what they did prior to joining the team.

Probably not a discussion for a GDT. But our scouting isn't very good. It's also a little wishy washy on the criteria. "Turds pretty quickly" and then Rakell - who has been majority good for us - gets an exception.

There isn't one answer to any of this. Graves was always bad, that one was easy to call. Smith is 33 or whatever. Etc. No one answer.

Yea that was an intermission question lol. My excuse for Rakell was that he busted his ass in contract year, and he’s been streakier this year than he was in Anaheim. Feels like it doesn’t add up.

Most of these players were never that good or are on the downside of their careers... Graves, Kapanen, and Granlund sucking were not surprising.

Heh, yeah, I think it's a good question/prompt. It's worth taking a deeper look at...

Surprising lack of vitriol directed at Letang there given what Karlsson has been receiving all year.

This has been one of the higher paced games we've played this year. Also, it's zipping by without any whistles. We've had a stretch of 5+ minutes without a whistle in each period, eh? Good stuff.
