Someone much smarter than me with hockey will have to explain what the benefit is of going so damn slow and side to side on the shootout attempts. I'd think the faster you went, the less reax time the goalie can have.

Rakell’s attempt was odd but still…

What happened to Karlsson being a game changer
Well, he has been... but not in a good way.

Not having Letang in the shootout is normally a fireable offense...

Letang/Pettersson/Acciari

:|
I missed the game, but saw Acciari in OT for over a minute and was like, what am I missing here.

They've integrated him into the system it seems, that's for sure.

Todd Reirden is also responsible for the defensemen in addition to the PP...

12 points behind the Rags. The Pens would be fighting for 1st place with a decent PP.

Another 12 (!) Goals would have them at 17th in the NHL. That's a good chunk of standings points honestly

I mean just for fun let's say half of those were in games that wouldn't have had the outcome impacted. That leaves 6 impacted games. Just for fun let's say see pick up 1 point in half of those and 2 points in half. That's 9 total points.

A below average PP (17th) could reasonably have us with 9 more points in the standings. 3rd in the metro with games in hand.

Of course, you can't be this inept on the PP and still claim to be a "good team" or whatever.

Yeah its all part of the same equation so the "what if" game is DOA. Its just such a different level of failure than were used to... playing so much better defensively, effort level is higher, and dictating most of the play at 5 on 5 yet here we are

And the players and coaches see it, right? That they’re pretty much torpedoing their own season?

Just asking for the millionth time, because somehow it’s still unfathomable to me that it’s been allowed to go on this long with the stakes so high. It’s like it’s all there is to talk about anymore, or maybe it’s just me and I need more hobbies.
