Puustinen tried to make some slick plays, which I appreciate...also made three turnovers right up the middle I think...maybe headed towards the press box soon. 10:44 tonight, including 5:06 in the 3rd period. His most since coming off the Malkin line on 12/27 vs NYI. I want this to work, but he's making it a little tough right now...that said, I wouldn't have taken him off the Malkin line so soon. I'd swap Reilly Smith down for him.

IMHO, Torts hasn't been an effective coach anywhere he's been since TB so I don't expect anything to change in Philly.

Torts is a guy that gets a lot out of lesser players and motivates (or scares) guys into working their asses off. That translates into extra regular season wins. But at the end of the day, talent usually prevails

Torts was the primary reason the Blue Jackets enjoyed their run of success during that 2013-2020 stretch. He did what only Ken Hitchcock had only managed to do once before (make playoffs), and replicated those results.

But his style has an extremely short shelf life. I give the Flyers another year or two before he wears those guys out.

Let's not forget too...they had Washington on the ropes in 2018. Beat them twice in Washington to start the series and I think Lars Eller got a lucky goal in overtime of game 3. Otherwise, that series is over and Washington never wins. Which would have been amazing considering how unbelievably hard Ovechkin played in game 82 that year to try to get his 50th. And then came out totally flat in game 1 of the playoff series at home against CBJ...ugh, what could have been there...
