They gave up ?

Someone was a Boldy high stick away from a potential 50 PAP points.
Yeah it would have put me one point out of first.

Good W, I thought they played well even when the lead was squandered

It's not like the Wild goals were massive breakdowns either. One came on a skate deflection right to a wide open Hartman. 2nd one was a defenseman sneaking in and just happened to be in the right place for when the puck came off Boldy's stick. And the 3rd one other than there only being one Dman in front of the net, it was still a really nice deflection. At least it wasn't the massive brain farts that we've seen with these guys when in a large lead situation.

Yeah that was a bizarre move
Someone on the Wild bench had Minnesota +1.5.

I think the Caps and Isles come back to earth but we need to start slinging together some win streaks

Yeah in this league you can rip off 8 of 10 and only gain like 3 points on the people you're chasing

That wasn't the team's most impressive win this season, but it was the most important. If they would have lost 2 or 3 in a row following that Toronto game, I believe management would have felt compelled to make some difficult decisions.

As it is, I'd say this team has less than a 50/50 shot at the playoffs except for the fact that the goaltending has been this good. Even with a third of the roster being borderline NHL'ers, goaltending and several superstars can carry a team a long way.

anyone who says that sullivan would've lost his job had they blown that 3-0 lead is imo still getting ahead of themselves but i'm pretty sure we've reached the point where it wouldn't surprise you

Puustinen has been a revelation. Obviously it’s not just him but in 25 games before he joined the squad we had 7 PP goals. We have 6 in the 5 games he’s played and been on the PP

he looks like he fits right with the Geno line. Who knows how sustainable it is but he’s exactly the type of player we needed to help add some scoring depth

the feed he had to Geno last night was a thing of beauty

Let's just make sure we pump the brakes a bit (which you did suggest too). Puustinen has played five games. We saw the starts that Shea and Zohorna had, where it looked like they were going to be useful. These guys all are towards the end of their call ups/chances in the NHL...so, the hot starts make sense...let's just see if this 24 year old with one career game before this week and can continue to play second line minutes in this league...it'd be great, and he's looked much better than he ever has...but let's be careful before we start writing in pen...

I think he's AN option. Which gives us a total of like 1 options.

Nylander didn't give us 10 decent seconds let alone 5 decent games

I think at the very least, he can get them through a stretch until Rust gets back.

He doesn't look totally out of place...which because the prospect cupboard is so bare...is good enough for right now.

On one hand, Puusy has looked fine, which is more than what can be said for others (Nylander, etc). Not everybody can successfully mesh with skilled players, and so far it looks like he might be able to. On the other hand, he's played 5 games in the top 6 plus top power play minutes and has zero goals. If he starts scoring goals, then obviously he will stay in the top 6.

This is a very obscure pull, but every time I hear Puusy I think of this scene from the Big Red One with Lee Marvin and Mark Hamill
