The team lacks a true sniper, which is killing them. The goat for me this season is Rackell. He's not a true sniper, but at times last season, he provided some of that. He's been a big fat zero this season so far.

Geno firing a slapper with 2 guys below the goal line probably isn't play on a 5 and 3 eh?

That's not a good 5 on 3. Got to have better shot selection than that
Yes. Poor shot selection is what leads to them not finishing their chances.

Bottom 6 scores the go ahead goal, and your stars yak up the lead then blow it... WHILE ON A TWO MAN ADVANTAGE
I’m still processing this, but I agree that shot selection won’t matter if the opposing goalie can clearly see everything coming his way.

A 2-man advantage…the X Generation wouldn’t have screwed that up.

I’m not at Fire Sullivan level…yet. But PP and goalie coaches? Buh bye.

Trottier mentioned the lack of presence in front of the net, and commented that it doesn't have to be a big, physical guy. Just more movement and effort to impede his line of sight. Trots knows a thing or two about scoring on the power play. I agree with his assessment.

What a disaster over the last two minutes. When the Pens clearly weren't going to score about halfway through the 5v3, I thought it wouldn't be surprising if they gave up a goal with seconds left after the inevitable kill. They somehow lost in an even more disgraceful manner.

This coaching staff needs an enema.

I'm not a guy that traditionally uses a designated screen on the power play because I think it kills the extra passing lane. But I'm surprised there wasn't a moving screen if Malkin and Karlsson were the designated trigger men. Guentzel should have crossed the eyes of Dostal, and then shoot it back against the grain of the screen, with Crosby crashing to the near left side post...I was disappointed with that late 5 on 3, I didn't even really see what the intent was...

If Big Jeff Carter wants to be of big use, park him in front of the net and tell him not to do anything but screen.
should dubas eventually can sullivan one can only hope the new guy has the stones to sit jeff carter

When Jarry started banging his stick, I was sitting there saying to just hang on to the puck until the guy gets into the play because I had a feeling it would be Geno who would try another howitzer, get it blocked, and it would get shoved out to the guy on the escape from the box. Wasn't quite that accurate, but close enough. It's a joke that a team with this much offensive talent has just 4 PPGs in 9 games. Reirden's definitely a guy on the list of people who shouldn't be on the charter west.

Carter needs to be gone, and he's so bad that I'd consider parting with an asset to make that happen. Would replacing him with Hinostroza have made a difference tonight? Perhaps not. But it might have. A fringe NHLer is better than what Carter is currently.

It’s tough when you’re up against Gibby Hometown and Backup McVezina.

I mean, just scratch him. I think they have maneuverability with the cap right now.

I’m going to picture him ambling into PPG Paints to the Rolling Stones’ “Emotional Rescue.”

I feel better already. And on that note, goodnight.

Carter is the least of their worries.
