Was there a lack of worthy candidates this year? The entire class is meh.

Lundqvist was a must. Turgeon was sort of a "correction" from the Punch Up in Piestany snub...they're fine inductions (well, Hank was a dunk).

Barrasso, folks have thought he was a borderline or better case but he's a dink...I don't agree that Barrasso belongs, but I'm a small room guy. But he's borderline.

Vernon came out of nowhere. But Lanny McDonald is like the HOF...dude...and they're close. I'm quite sure that Vernon isn't even the best eligible Flames goalie...I'm surprised they went with these two over other guys available like Vanbiesbrouck or CuJo for instance...

Vernon going erases the shred of doubt about Fleury going I would think...but man, Vernon really lowers the bar for goaltenders...you can fit a lot of guys in that gap... *cough*

The whole X # needs to get in each year really dilutes the pool. Osgood will get in eventually just due to the specific year being (very) weak and it'll be a total sham.

I don't believe that's how it works...I believe there's a max that can get in, but I don't believe there's a min...it's about crossing the voting threshold I thought...a few years ago, there was only a couple...it was a "correction" year where Makarov and Vachon finally got in...

Eh. Gonch is coaching for an NHL team. Mogilny is president of a KHL team owned by a Russian weapons manufacturer. I'm not sure "no Russians" is a blanket statement.

It's also kind of funny that Mogilny - possibly - is being punished despite famously defecting from Russia, risking his life to do so...
