I don’t even understand how this team is in position to make the playoffs.
Bad special teams, bad goaltending, no depth scoring, some recent injuries, bad goal differential, oldest team in league, one of the smaller/softer teams in the league, bad GM, streaky, can’t protect leads, can’t finish, gives up goals in final minutes, frequently starts games flat with no energy, etc.
Maybe we should be thankful/shocked/happy they’re even contending for a playoff spot.

Having to hope the BJs win tonight is sub optimal.

Man it was annoying watching Bertuzzi work today. He was in front of the net constantly. That first goal was him doing a ton of work.
Same with Hathaway, Pens having that kind of grit would be nice to see.

The roster they're icing due to injuries/their own ineptitude wouldn't even be eligible for a preseason game (you're required to dress at least 8 vets, CBJ is dressing 6 tonight).

Pens traded for a guy who is nothing like those guys but at least we have our first. Don’t worry about being straddled with one of the worst contacts in hockeyMan it was annoying watching Bertuzzi work today. He was in front of the net constantly. That first goal was him doing a ton of work.

I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but I was at the game and kept a close eye on Petry…dude is hugely disappointing. He had a brutal first period and then was a nobody the rest of the way.
You cannot be paying 6 million bucks for a defenseman who isn’t excellent defensively and also incognito in the offensive zone

Petry did have a tough 1st...thought he was all right the rest of the way. He was never a real dynamic talent, per se...but he had a big shot. He's not going to be a dynamic talent now at 35. And I'm not saying it in defense of him, per se...but, uh, we're old and...per se...

he did his part today
but dang, everything has to break their way to get in and based on the way this crazyass season has unfolded for them it's hard to see that happening

I believe now and even more, the granlund trade and how they got to him is a singular fireable offense in itself.Pens traded for a guy who is nothing like those guys but at least we have our first. Yeah I made a point of watching him today and my God, every time he had the puck he looked like a deer in headlights. Granlund was probably the result of a panic move when another deal fell through. I think they had something around J.T. Miller, I think it fell apart, and they just tried to grab any lifesaver...Poile tossed us an anvil, and then billed us for the iron...
