I like Granlund's game btw. Smart player, speed, good vision, we could have done worse

Would've been nice to get a little retention on his contract.

I wonder if this is a bit of a **** you to Hextall for putting the team in a cap situation where they weren’t able to make any call ups. It’s weird for Sully to talk that much about a young player

Granlund made some nice defensive plays behind the net

Nylander played a pretty unremarkable 11:15 today so not sure why the gush. I mean he was fine

I want this to sound the right way. His game is like if Sid was several degrees of skill less talented but played the same way

I was a bit surprised to see Rakell on the third line but if that is what it takes to make that line click - Then do it

Otherwise, I loved Rakell on Sids wing

They could probably switch rakell and rust, but I think he wants to put rakells shot with granlund's playmaking ability and see if it clicks

Typically I'm not a fan of weakening one line to strengthen another, but perhaps one will improve and the other will remain productive. I mean, the third line can only improve from what it was prior to the deadline, so it sort of makes sense

in theory it's a great match. it's like you put the sniper with the playmaker on NHL23 and everyone's rating goes up +2 or something. Let's see if it works in real life, so far I think it's been decent

I mean we have a real third line right now it's kinda refreshing to say the least.

Not sure where we are cap-wise but I'm wondering why we couldn't try someone like Hallander on the 4th instead of heinen?

This is what I was asking for. Heinen, Carter could rotate out for any number of AHL guys and give them a shot of energy. Nylander, who everyone was kind of hating on coming up, has done fine when he's played. O'connor should just never leave the line-up. He's earned his spot over what exists today.

There are ramifications to calling up players...so, you want to be reasonably sure that you're actually going to make an improvement.

Nylander on Geno's wing is fine. No matter who Geno plays with, the less time they spend in their own zone the better, and no winger will ever change that. Might as well put Heinen with them and hope for the best.

Nylander going there is just like Niklas Nordgren going there or Eric Tangradi going there - at least for now. It's just a guy that Malkin isn't going to pass it to because he doesn't trust him or doesn't know where he's going to be...

Nylander has more technical skill than those guys...but unless you can actually weaponize it with your feet, your pace, your reads...you got nothin'...Nylander is 25 and hasn't played in the NHL in three years, this could be his last shot...so hopefully that sparks him into competence...because the kid can shoot, I wouldn't mind having a late-career James Neal lying around because we don't have a lot of bomb shots in the forward group right now...

Maybe he can be this year's Connor Sheary. I'm still perplexed that guy is an NHLer.

Connor Sheary had a good one. Connor Sherry, on the other hand…

Nylander also took an inopportune injury following a full season in the NHL and hasn't made it back

I completely forgot that Sheary had a second stint here.
