Colby sums it up well here. McGinn never blocked shots or scored ugly/dirty goals. And given that he can't win draws, it really limits him as far as what he brings to the bottom 6. It's usually an ugly goal that will break a grinder out of a slump. McGinn was valuable earlier in the season when he was scoring important goals late in games. Heinen was much the same way last season, when he scored 18 and filled in for a few top 6 guys on occasion. But when players like this aren't scoring, they must find other ways to contribute. McGinn didn't do that.Mcginn... I mean I really like him as a player and I still think he's an NHL third liner, but he just lacked something. He was decent to pretty good at his craft, but he's not hard enough to play against. Needs more grit, and needs to get better at blocking shots.
Our PK forwards sucked at blocking shots this year. Bonino will remind us what it's supposed to look like
