Well his expected points are something like negative 12 which falls in the pink region of the graph so the 36 points he does have are likely due to lucky bounces and will normalize soon

Okay, so I'm assuming Carter becomes the 4th line center with Blugers gone. So they've got Carter/Archibald/DOC/Poehling and quite frankly I like Carter a lot better on that line at this point.

So who's left at this point for the third line? Granlund and Heinen? They still need to make one more acquisition. Hopefully it's a RH shot who is at least a little bit of a physical presence.

Regardless of playing for the Flyers he carried himself as a pretty shitty person as a player so I wasn't thrilled to bring him on as a GM. I know they're not the same job, but that's a similar issue. Being an accomplished hockey player should not automatically open the door to being an executive. It should be the exception, not the norm, in all sports.
Hell, Ron Francis went back to school to learn how to do it and still sucks at it.

Granlund's 36 points this year so far would be Tanev's career best. We need production from the bottom six

Granlund's PTS/60 this season is on par with Heinen and trails Kapanen by a not insignificant margin. And that's for total TOI. His even strength and 5 on 5 PTS/60 trails Kapanen and Heinen and is on par with Archibald, Carter, Blueger, and McGinn. He's not going to play 18+ per night like he was in Nashville. Dude was playing top power play minutes, was barely on the PK, and led all forward in TOI in Nashville. Production wise we'll be lucky if he matches Kapanen, while being paid more for longer and is already 31 and is a soft ***** dodint that doesn't add something this team would actually benefit from. Anyway you shape it, the trade is dumb and does little to help this team in the immediate while further handcuffing in the future.

I don’t think anyone should be saying Granlund is worse because he’s not. The problem is this team, even after getting rid of Kapanen, have a third line essentially signed for 2 more years making 12 million bucks who likely will be average at best even with the addition of Granlund.

If somehow Hextall can pull something out of his ass and get Carter off the books, my mood will completely change

Yeah, I really don’t like the deal, myself, mostly because of the cap hit, but some of the reactions by media and fans are unreal. Totally over the top. I’m rooting for the guy extra hard as a result.
