GDT #44: Pens @ Sens
Every GM makes bad moves. The carter move wasn't great in hindsight but at the time we all loved it. The kapanen signing was a bit of a head scratcher. The desmith one was meh but we've determined that there aren't any meaningful alternatives available that would have been significantly better.
The hextall approach has been built on patience. He inherited an aging franchise up against the cap with no assets and no pipeline. He retained existing players at presumably below market value (at least by AAV) rather than splurge on free agents. He elected to make low-cost moves to preserve high draft picks and the de minimis prospect pool we have.
Outside of the deals I mentioned above, tell me what better approach he could have taken.

Reviewed the receipts. Skullman questioned the signing. Mikey was closer to lukewarm on it but not unhappy. The rest of us ranged from pleased to ecstatic.
