Hmm, had a decent year last year and he could only get 1mm?

I like it. Unexpected.

Hmph, someone sent me a text last night and said we're probably going to get something done with Heinen this week...nice. I'm for it. This is the old lower-middle class crunch that the flat cap puts on. It squarely comes out of Danton Heinen's pocket...this is a really good deal for us and that's without any expectation that he hits 20 goals or anything next season...career best 18 goals, gets a paycut...Kapanen, worst season since he was a rookie, gets a salary bump and the same cap hit...
That's why games like EHM have a "reputation" scale...Kapanen has some pedigree, some street cred...Heinen could have been in the NLA for the last two seasons and no one would have remembered him...glad we got him and at a million bucks, he's quietly, though modestly, effective and doesn't overplay his talents leading to big mistakes...

He’s gotta be one of the best dollar/point non-ELC value guy in the league, no?

Meh...a lot of guys can produce this moderate level. Think of all the breakout guys this year in big spots...Bunting, Marchment, the tough kid in Nashville, Ross Colton in TB, hell DeAngelo in Carolina...
But, certainly, getting what I assume was 15+ ES goals playing with a bunch of mixed nuts is a big plus...

I love this deal. Love the price. But also I have this feeling he regresses and kinda stinks. Because if those 18 goals turn to 10 or so, he doesn't offer much. But also it's 1 mil so there's really no risk, so who cares

Yeah, I think he might fall down a bit...but that's why the price is right. He shot 13% last year, a career best, and probably a little high for his skill level. If he goes back down to 10.7% (his career avg.), that's still 15 goals on 138 shots (his total last year). At a schmillion, that's a bargain.
That said, he provides almost nothing else. That's part of the trade off. Doesn't carry pucks, doesn't play defense, doesn't hit, isn't a playmaker...plus shooter, so it's important to get him into positions to shoot and then this will pay for itself...

Kapanen
Obviously, Kapanen will get plenty of action because we're never healthy...but I'm not sure he's in my top 12 right now. I guess I could do Carter in the middle and Blugers as the 4C and then Poehling comes out and Kapanen goes in at 3RW...

Doubt they signed a guy for $3.2M to not play.
I have a feeling zucker goes and we retain a million or two. Hope not though

Marino was scratched at $4+ mil last year. You can scratch anyone. Besides 14 forwards played 41 games or more last year. No lineup is permanent...

Is DOC a future top-6 guy?

DOC doesn’t process quick enough for me to have him in top six. He’s a candidate for a pop of skill on the fourth line.

I think he can become a middle 6 guy. Late bloomer in every regard, still can progress through those shortcomings IMO. I hope he gets a regular shift this year but not looking good as of 7/28
