I love LOVE Petry. Logs big minutes and has an absolute bomb from the point. Good hockey smarts. Throws very catchable passes

Poehling - not so much. He hasn’t found his niche yet. He’d be better served playing wing IMO. I have issues with his skating. Very un-explosive and plodding.

The pens now have two defensemen who are true alphas on a d pairing. I think Mikey talks about this alot..there’s guys who can play first pair, but they aren’t the guy that controls the play. Dumo is a guy like that.

Petry is a 1b to Letang now. That’s what we hoped Marino could be. But he just wasn’t

I liked Matheson too. Sorry to see him go. I place it in the "cost of doing business" folder. The Habs apparently wanted Matheson as part of the deal or it was a no go.

I trust that GMRH knows wtf he's doing, at least in theory anyhow. #closeseyesandcrossesfingers

I grew into liking Matheson for his skating ability and his looks at the offensive end. But let's face it -- he and Marino weren't moving anyone from the front of the net. At least with Petry and Rutta, you've got guys who aren't afraid of contact and play a heavier game. If that saves the Pens a couple of goals per week, that's going to make a big difference in the long run and hopefully in the playoffs.
