I love this deal. Leturnover has frustrated the HELL out of me at times but this deal shows me how much he cares about the team.

Too much term but the AAV is manageable. I, obviously, hope he develops a shinpad allergy the day after Sid leaves (or sooner) but other than that I don't hate it.Let’s get a well check on dodint
I still don't like his style of play and it's only going to get worse with age. But we can save that for the GDTs.

He has heart issues. That will long term him whenever he wants.

Locking up both Rust & Letang at a little over $11 million combined is nuts. NUTS.

Yeah. Hextall is doing an excellent job. The players should also get cred since they sacrifice money to stay here.Locking up both Rust & Letang at a little over $11 million combined is nuts. NUTS.

Meh. They're not signing him to trade him. So they do 1 year of him post Sid if Sid doesn't re-sign.

I'm sure Montreal will not be on the NT list

Right around Letang's 30th bday, I made a post about how he would need to change his game as he got older - become more selective with his offensive zone pinches, putting himself in better position to avoid taking big hits, and being more patient in general. He has actually done those things x100 and is right now the best player he's ever been. His excellent conditioning should allow him to play until 40. Even if he's a 3-4 defenseman by the end of the deal instead of a #1, it's still great value especially given that it will be 2028 by that time.
