My question is how long until DeSmith is injured and they're stuck, again, needing a solid backup goalie ?

If we're worried about DeSmith getting injured, then we've already accepted that Jarry is hurt, again.

Jarry wasn't hurt 2 playoffs ago, but we still could've used a healthy backup ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Jarry sucked real bad for sure, but I'm willing to let that one slide based on first time. That's basically in the "it is what it is" for me, but expecting any goalie aside from the number 1 to perform and steal games in front of the team as currently constructed doesn't make sense, imo.

So if DeSmith is in there, I still think they lose to NYR. They needed Jarry the entire series.

I think they win with CDS. We'll never know.

They didn't need a goalie to steal games 5 and 6. They needed something beyond a cardboard cutout, and didn't get it.

I'm not sure. I think that momentum carried the Rangers. All the Pens had to do was try and play some solid defense in game 5, and IIRC they came out dogshit flat.

I don’t believe in momentum game to game.

If it was momentum, they deflated it with a tying goal both times. Besides, momentum doesn't begin if your goaltender can catch a beach ball.

I don't really either, but they worked on the Pens pretty roughly. Hurting Sid completely changed the series, imo.
