I never expected them to win the series so the loss isn't what irritates me. What does is they were up 3-1, had a chance of winning it, and blew it.

I don’t think we raked McGinn through the coals enough for how dreadful of a turnover and penalty that was

We also never mentioned Sid passing the puck to the middle of no man's land for an easy outlet to a breakaway that Jarry saved. Could have ended the season there, too.

Honestly that was my reaction too. He grabbed Miller for sure but it didn’t seem like a lot. The same amount of contact in the neutral zone rather than a breakaway would’ve been ignored

Oh yeah, he was on a breakaway and was denied a reasonable chance to score - from only behind...that's definitely a penalty shot for me...

Should have been a penalty shot. Only wasn't bc too much time elapsed before pens touched the puck for a whistle and the ref chickened out

You can't say bomb on an airplane, and you can't grab a guy on a breakaway. Two rules we've added to our Rotary 4-way test in the past 15 years.

I wasn’t clear. That should have been called a penalty shot. Refs have no balls in calling one in a big spot in the game.

isn't one of the criteria that the puck carrier has to be "in the clear"? McGinn was right on his back so not in the clear, IMO.

Being completely in front of the back checker counts as in the clear to me

Nope. On a breakaway, fouled and denied a scoring chance.

If he's "in the clear" then he isn't going to get fouled ever...

I get your first sentence but don't agree with the second. you can be "in the clear" of my body but if I reach out and hook you on a breakaway, easy call for a penalty shot and that's usually where you see them called.

In that case, then I'd consider him to be in the clear here too.

with Miller wearing McGinn like a backpack? borderline at best and they're not calling that as a PS in OT in the playoffs though I think we would've been better off if they had.

Listened to the latest chiclets on a plane today. Series synopsis:

-they think all the officiating breaks went against the pens
-they hated the "retaliatory" call on erod
-they were pissed about the helmet rule
-they also knew that Marino made the right play
-they thought Miller should have had a penalty shot which would have benefitted the pens
