Why not just throw it back behind the net or keep it in the corner? That also doesn't excuse jackass Letang for just standing there spectating while the hottest freakin Ranger is wide open in the circle.

His partner was in the slot, expecting the pass there. Throwing behind the net was a guaranteed turnover. This wasn't a guaranteed turnover. Its failure had a lower floor though.

If Marino throws that behind and stretches our coverage and they score off of that, people would say, why not just pass to Letang in the middle, he was wide open...

I don't think he was going for Letang, who was still skating from the bench. I think he was going for whoever was on the far boards, a much longer pass. I just feel like you have to keep the puck out of the middle of the ice as much as possible, especially when nursing a 1-goal lead with 6 minutes left.

Hope that isn't gonna be the death knell.

Delayed penalty against the Pens, Shesterkin skating off the ice for the extra man, Rangers shot goes off Matheson’s skate, hits the crossbar, back out to the glass and takes a favorable bounce in the neutral zone as it slowly creeps down the ice and across the goal line. All Rangers fans die from disappointment.
