If I’m coaching tonight, you’re not allowed to block a shot in this meaningless game with playoffs right around the corner. If the salary cap and call up situation allowed I’d also be resting guys NBA style.

Yeah, this is all fake stuff.

You can't just turn off shot blocking. It's not a video game. It happens at random, it's instinctual too, and it's an expected outcome in certain situations.

You should look deeper into the whole "rest" thing with regard to hockey players' cardio and their eyes...luckily, you'd be fired before you could do too much damage...but you'd cause more harm than good, not too much how much the players wouldn't respond positively to this...

I’d remind them that they’re old, injury prone, and currently in a slump. Hockey culture wouldn’t allow or accept this. But I’d like to see somebody try this one day over the last 1-2 weeks of a season. “Rest” wouldn’t necessarily have to mean sitting in the press box for games. I see the Malkin suspension as a possible blessing in disguise.
