Any take other than goaltending being the issue is mind blowing. Jarry has been terrible in 2 of the 3 games at home. First goal last night should have been stopped and the OT goal was a joke. Average goaltending in both of those games gets a win.

The only other issue outside of goaltending was that they couldn't finish. They thoroughly outplayed the isles for 80% of the game at a minimum

So, goaltending in the series is a problem. I'm not sold that our starting goaltender is a global, roster problem...that might not go down so smoothly for some of yous, and that's fine. But I like Jarry, still...and I think he might cost us a winnable series at the same time...
The prompt is to have another NHL goalie in the system. Not just a guy who can beat Buffalo on Sundays and then also the 156th best player at his position dragging around...

The mikey meow regime would have a tough decision to make tomorrow. Jarry or Nedeljkovic?

If DeSmith were available, sure, throw him in. Otherwise, are we calling for Legace to start a Stanley Cup playoff elimination game?

Casey DeSmith could say that he's 110% healthy and there's a 0% chance I'd go to him over Jarry for game 6.

Ya boy meow is conflicted here. Jarry runs on confidence and I can’t imagine his confidence being very high right now, amirite? DeSmith is a wildcard. This is all for not though because he is still injured, no?

Right, he's still hurt anyway. So it's pointless. But I'd say the conversation is pointless regardless. They're just not near the same caliber of netminder...

I’m certainly not saying that they are the same caliber. But, you have to admit, DeSmith was really really good at points this season. And Jarry benefited from his early season benching and strung together two months of borderline fabulous goaltending as a result.
It doesn’t matter. Jarry is going to win the next 14 games we play.

to me it's not so much talent but headiness. Jarry has the physical goods but this is the first playoff series where he has the keys to the car and he's driving 15 miles under the speed limit and swerving into the shoulder constantly
audibling now would be hurtful to our future in that we need to know if Jarry is our guy. If he continues to wilt (well, he only has one more game to wilt before we're done for the season) we have more evidence in the "Jarry isn't a long term solution" category. Of course, one playoff series isn't everything, but we can't make a 10 year commitment to a guy we're not confident in. If Jarry bounces back and we win the series, we all feel good about it. If we lose game 6 and Jarry looks like a bum, we are more informed about who he is as a professional athlete

I agree, he was. But we're still talking about a 30 year old, who really looks like a good minor league goalie, and his specialty is only beating bad teams...

I mean, sure, to be fair, the Isles are on the plus side of his ledger this season. Boston, Washington, and the offensive Rangers killed him. Buffalo and NJ didn't.
HIs last six games:
2-4, 4.35 GAA, .866 sv%
Not exactly coming in hot no matter what...
The thought is is that we can win the series with slightly above average goaltending. Odds are, we're more likely to get that game from Jarry than DeSmith...

10 year commitment? Jarry is signed through 2023 at $3.5 mil per...making him the 28th highest paid goalie in the league right now. We have time to figure this out and almost no resources committed to goaltending right now...

mikey, you could throw out some numbers that say Varlarmov should be the Islanders starting goaltender right now. Doesn't make it the correct decision. Sometimes you just go with the hot hand, or in Varlarmov's/Jarry's case, the not-cold-hand.

10 years is probably too high but we'll have to decide if we want to re-sign Jarry and if not, we'll need a replacement. It's an investment10 year commitment? our choice right now is Jarry or Lagace - what are we arguing here?

I'm still mad at Jake. Probably more so than I am at Jarry.

ZAR never plays well when you want or expect him to. he keeps you on your toes. probably a lunk head.
there's a guy who's strong enough and skates well enough to make defensemen hate fetching pucks. but he's fancying himself a skill player again, which means he's currently waiting around for someone to give him the puck when he's not open.
go hit someone ZAR. be a hero.
