McDavid and young Crosby are the only 2 players in this era who have the ability to turn buffalo into something.
Are we ok if this is the EPL, and there are teams you just predictably beat up on every year? I think it's ok, but it doesn't feel great,

Are we ok if this is the EPL, and there are teams you just predictably beat up on every year? I think it's ok, but it doesn't feel great,
being from upstate NY (albeit the Albany area, not western NY) it saddens me to see the Sabres in such bad shape. The absolute worst thing is if they eventually relocate, which I don't know how at risk that is but it would really suck to have them leave the area (the Bills were pretty close to relocating to Toronto a few years ago).
fwiw, I don't think them being a small market team doesn't really stop them from being good. Being incompetent is stopping them from being good. Since Pegula bought the team in 2010 they haven't made the playoffs so I think it's pretty clear where the incompetency starts

I was hoping Buffalo would be able to draft McDavid. It's interesting to think about how that could have changed things (for them and for him).

Wondering if this will become one of those things where we have to explain to people why metropolitan areas with a lot of people are attractive places to live. But nobody is gone, so maybe we all get it.

I've had a good time in Buffalo...but you can make a good time in any town for a short period of time basically (well, not like, Lansing, MIchigan)...Buffalo has maybe the best, most knowledgeable sports fans going...they got that ice rink or whatever in the middle of town...a bunch of dives with quality wings...it's all right...but living there, I could see it maybe being tough...but Canada is right there, Canada is fun...

If I’m making more money than I could count, and I’m single in my 20’s....hooooooooo boy is Buffalo just about as bad as it gets (outside the Peg and Edmonton).
The fans are there though. I love a good Buffalo crowd. Montreal light. Unlike Florida who I wish would never win another game so we can just end the charade, I want great things for the Sabres.
But I’m not looking forward to getting my doink wet with Buffalo 10’s when NYC 10’s are in my same state.

That’s like saying the same thing about living in Tallahassee and having the Miami 10s in the same state. Yeah, they are but they’re not exactly a quick hour drive away.
