The arena would need to pay for the music license. Snapper Music owns the rights to the song and according to them, they have no connection with Glitter and he no longer receives any royalties from it. At least that's what they said after its use in Joker. As a fan, I'd rather not hear the voice of a dude who was convicted of child porn and accused of child rape after a goal is scored regardless of the nostalgia.

Actually, probably not. This is one area where I am unable to separate the art from the artist, though. And it would be way more trouble than it's worth from the Pens perspective.

It's not worth on their end, I don't disagree. I guess I question why it's even that big of a deal. Listening to the song doesn't mean you support him in anyway. I guess that was my point. But doesn't matter so party hard.

Nah son, any player on the team you like, any politician on the team you cheer for, any entertainer that you watch, means that you are personally held accountable for their actions when they do bad things...it's impossible to separate them...

But this is just how it is. If a person becomes a monster, and their crimes resonate beyond those they directly impacted, then we re-calibrate some of the benign, non-essential elements of society. Like what song gets played after a goal.

It's not a "big deal". It's just that the song choice is a microscopic deal so it's easy to change.

as a person, I usually separate the art from the artist, so it's not an issue for me personally. Though if you're the Penguins, why would you welcome all the dumb PR controversies when you can just change the song?

corporations don't do things because of moral backbone or anything. They do everything for money. Changing the song is a good money move from their perspective
