Friedman must have really felt part of the team as everyone ate their popcorn while he was getting scumbagged.
Soff matters. Realizing you can do whatever you want to this team and get a free pass really energizes low character teams like the caps and flyers after they come out flat.

Any loss confirms everything, any win nothing.
Yeah, blowing a 3-0 lead after the anthem isn't great...but we're still the same win some, lose some team we were on Tuesday...this is life in the right lane, grandmas...win, loss, win, loss...

This team is average at best. Making the playoffs is not likely.
Right. Everyone is counting on beating up the sabres and devils all second half (16 games remain against those two teams) so I assume that the BOS PHI WSH NYI have played them a ton? Either way oens have overall more GP than teams above them in standings. It’s starting to look ugly.
Not I. I said we'd be fortunate to get .550 hockey out of that run...we're just not that good of a team...
I'm curious why you think we'd be fortunate to get 550 out of that run. We're at a 545 clip now without playing a game against Buffalo or NJ and with the litany of injuries to the D. I know we aren't cup favorites by any means, but I'd have to think the rest of the season should play out a bit better than what the results have been so far..

That's the only real reason...average teams don't just put away bad teams on the regular. That's what good teams do...

Yea, I am far from someone who thinks we need a “tough” team. But last night was bad. That non-reaction to that incident was soff. The lack of any and all push back was soff.

So set and over under on points percentage in those 16 games... current points percentage is .568
I could see something like 8-5-3 which is 19 points .593

If you want to make the playoffs in this division you probably need at least 24 of those points if not more

Yeah this is where I'm at. Last night was just what an average team does...blows leads.
It's not just one game.. it's this season, and last season etc... this team is average now with aging stars.

Honestly, and this may sound dumb, but I hope they fall far enough back in the standings that they seriously consider being a bit of a seller. The ceiling for this team is backing in to the playoffs and losing in the first round. Assets are bleak. Would love to see them get a premium for Rust, get a 3rd or a 4th out of Ceci, etc.

Right but like... if you sell, you're going to miss the playoffs AND have nothing to show for it in the form of a potential lottery pick because your previous GM was an idiot.
It's kind of a dammed if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Who would the Penguins give up to get a first though? And why would a non-playoff team trade their first for a (example) Bryan Rust?
Honestly I just don't like the position GMJR put us in.

Don't limit your own market to "lottery" picks...the difference between picking 15th and 19th is usually nothing...

Agreed. They won't buy. Theres nothing to buy with. I doubt they deal rust now but would be surprised if they didn't before the draft.

Maybe a Pettersson for a 4th line center type of trade. We are overloaded on the left side of the ice on defense. Make a trade from a position of strength to a position of weakness

I'm with this/what mikey said. Basically let's see what happens with what we got. Obviously if the next few weeks are egregiously bad, then sell.. but otherwise I don't really want to see anything drastic either way.

9 regulation wins in their last 37 regular season games.
The days of expecting us to win every night and being surprised when we don’t should be long gone.
Maybe we aren’t all the way into the Rico Fata, Ramzi Abid, Dick Tarnstrom era of lowered expectations but in some ways this is much more frustrating.
