I'll spell it out for you. Maybe have someone near you hold your hand and explain the big words... Sullivan openly says that he benched Kapanen because he wasn't bringing it and didn't have his game going. There are other players, like Malkin, that consistantly don't bring it or have their game going yet don't miss a shift. Its a hypocritical bullpoo comment by a coach that is clueless when it comes to player usage.

You go ahead and let that marinate on your brain for a little while. Like I said, maybe someone can help you with the bits that you don't grasp.

I’m trying to put my finger on the issue HCMS has with KK. Kapanen has been exactly as noticeable- both good and bad - as virtually everyone else on the roster, but he’s got the shortest leash.

Sullivan seems like the kind of coach to tell players that they’re expected to be just as engaged now as they were playing in front of 15,000 people and there’s no excuse for any other way. I have many doubts about his adaptability to different frameworks.

Does Burke have a history of knowing when players are all done with their coach?

I imagine Burke has the pulse of the team. That probably includes whether have their coach tuned out or not.

For the record, I have little issue with how Sullivan is handling things right now.

Maybe it's not just the quality of play but other issues like not following coaching?

fwiw i was listening to barnaby's podcast (i think it was barnaby's) and someone said that every player in every locker room understands that the elite among them might be treated differently by the coaching staff than everyone else and no one has a problem with it.

Trying to recall, and this is just spitballing, but did it feel like Kapanen's lines (since he got shuffled around) were getting hemmed in when he was out there?

I know there were a couple points when the Pens got stuck, but wasn't keeping track on who was out there.

Maybe Sullivan trusts that Sid and Jake are being responsible, so if they're getting hemmed in, there's only one other guy it could be.
