Also, if this is true, I’m beyond 100 percent certain FGMJR was not trading Letang for picks and prospects. Considering his recent trade history, he was trading Letang for a longer and worse contract

To be fair, it is difficult to trade for a shorter and better contract. A #1 RHD for $7.25 million for one more season. There are not many players that are off the same caliber, cheaper and have shorter contract left. That should be some ELCs or bridge deals and then GMJR would be a genious

My point is we are not replacing Letang (or Malkin). If we trade them, you trade them for the future. It doesn’t need to be 5 year rebuild. But I think if you are trading 1 or both, you need to look at maybe making a run again in 2 or 3 years. To be fair, it is difficult to trade for a shorter and better contract. I agree with your point but chose to be a bit sarcastic. Sorry.
I think Crosby has a few years left in his tank so it is really difficult to get any value back for Letang or Malkin that can contribute more than them in the coming years.
From a business side, they should probably explore the trade values of the players when they think that the core is too old to win the cup. But the core has probably earned a retirement here, unless they request to be traded...

Trading away Letang is addition by subtraction. You can't go wrong, you can only measure it by degrees of positive.

I got a note last night that it was a situation like that tweet suggested...not that name, but that situation...

Don't try and ruin this for me with your vaguebook crap. St. Rutherford died for Letang's sins and I will pray at that alter until the glitch is fixed.

Yes, on both counts.Yea Hextall was fired because he had a long term plan and the organization didn’t like that the long term plan was long termHextall would be one of the best additions out there...
It would have been nice for him to be fired earlier because the current team has his fingerprints all over it

I’m inclined to agree. Not everything has to be a soap opera or castle intrigue. But the timing and abruptness really bother me. Would’ve preferred he resign prior to this season starting, or state that he’s seeing through this season, then going. Even two-weeks notice = better optics. This is almost what it sounds like, at least what DK is also saying.Wasn’t GMJRs contract up at years end? Maybe he wanted an extension and the pens said no
Sounded like GMJR was on the "hot seat" and was going to see how the team did this season before they renewed him, and he didn't want the lame duck status, so moved on.
I know the players are professionals, and they know it’s a business, etc., etc. But, if the players feel JR has quit on them, then that’s worrisome, imo. I hope they can block out the noise.

Hextall as GM:
One of my most hated Flyers of all time, so no
OTOH, if he somehow leads the Penguins back to the promised land before the Flyers - may be worth it.

Imagine how the Flyers fans would feel if Hextall signed with their rival...
