Okay, good. I’ve been looking forward to seeing what he can do these days. We definitely need a little more speed in the middle of the lineup, especially on the PK.

Geno’s entire line just looked sluggish. Chalking it up to rust (ha?) for now and just normal Geno stuff. But they need to start moving their feet.

I won’t draw any conclusions until 6-8 games in. Looking forward to seeing a “much faster team” compared to last year, as we were promised.

Yeah, looking forward to the next game. They don’t look as bad as last year, IMO. Just a really bad sequence of events over a few minutes, late in the game. No regrets turning it off (shut up, @mikey).

Turning off the Steelers game less than midway through the first quarter was a phenomenal decision. Nothing will change my mind.

So that didn't turn out well.

Honestly I thought the boys looked okay through two periods. They gave up two back breaking late period goals (Jarry had 0 chance on either of the first two screen/deflection goals). For a brief while in the 2nd the Pens IMO were controlling play (not dominant by any stretch but giving better than they got for sure) and then bang late period goal sapped momentum. Still, tie game early in the third period, first game of the season, the wheels came off a little bit. Didn't see much from Rust/Malkin, I only noticed Zucker on one nice backcheck that he had.. as well all know going to be hard for the Pens to win many games without the horses doing their fair share. All that said, the 3rd pair was bad last year, its going to be below par this year as well. Matheson was scratched by the Panthers while in the bubble and punted after they signed him to a big ticket - something is going wrong there obviously. We'll see. Maybe Reirden is a horse whisperer after all. Cici is cici. He aint gonna put up points and therefore your primarly going to notice him when hes on a highlight reel for a goal against. Is what it is.

I seem to recall him putting someone offsides because he has no speed through the nz with the puck. That was all I saw of him

He didn't look as bad in the defensive zone as some made him out to be, IMO. Same goes for Cici.
