Okay a question, don't kill me. I don't know the answer. How much stock do you put in a team's first 4 games in 5 months? It was total dog sht, there's no debating it.
If this were the first 4 games of a season in November, we'd be concerned but know that there's plenty of season left. Problem with this is that these games were so high-caliber that losses can't be afforded.

To me, it's amazing how at 3-1 midway thru the 2nd Wednesday night, it seemed these guys had it figured out. And then they decided to stop playing -- not give up, but just stop doing what had been working that they had found.

I wouldn’t care if it wasn’t do or die, but it was. And the team looked lifeless. Lazy, uninspired, mental mistakes abound

And to a terrible **** Canadiens team that didn’t even have a winning record

This isn't even in reference to this game, but if Jack Johnson starts the season still on this roster, it's going to be very difficult to enjoy watching this.

If Jack Johnson is on the roster in October, I’m going to complain about it on this message board.

Is there even going to be hockey in October?

That's the odd part. When the Pens were up 3-1 the other night (and had several chances to make it 4-1) I thought the series was over. I thought to myself, well, it took a couple games but they found a rhythm now.

And they never scored again.

Instead of waiting for the team to **** the bed in December, can we just fire Sullivan now?
I dunno. They tune a coach out, fire him, then they win. But seems to need to be midseason.

Legit question. I personally think you can read a lot into it. There were certainly lines in the sand on who was good and who was bad. I think you can make long term decisions based on this because we shouldn’t have been surprised on who was good and who was bad. This put everyone under a microscope

Finding a new head coach is tricky. It depends on who is available, and if they fit the style the organization wants to play - and the players have to be willing to buy in. Catching lightning in a bottle twice (in 2009 and 2016) after firing coaches mid-season is EXTREMELY unprecedented.

I don't mean to put on the sash, but we might as well move the macro conversations to a new thread or the thread of randomness...

Yep, my reaction at that exact moment was pretty much yep, we're back. Smooth sailing now. And then the total opposite happened

What’s with the lack of passion and energy? Every game felt like a scrimmage.

eh we have...n number of months to be able to have those level-headed convos. This thread is just a “let’s whinge and call for everyone to be fired/traded” emotional outlet atm

So you're saying we should sacrifice mikey to the hockey gods?

Yes. :(

Now, I hope to witness the most hilarious NHL draft ever if the Pens were to get Lafreniere.

In the spirit of this, can we fire GMJR too? That Johnson deal...

I didn't watch the first game, but I got the distinct impression that much of the roster wasn't too terribly keen on playing right now. Be it the proximity to camp for next year, COVID, whatever. They just looked like their goal was to wrap this up quickly and go home.

I'm not saying they tanked, they are professional athletes. But they just had the appearance of a lot of dudes whose collective level of give-a-s**t was near zero.

The collective intensive care units given on this team rounds close enough to zero...87, 16, 17, 13...I'm running out of steam...58 kind of meant well, but didn't execute very well...59 is clearly still hurt, I don't fault him...Jarry was perky and helpful in the one opportunity he had...
