Still trying to figure out how Johnson is responsible for Murray being unable to hug the post.
GDT Pens vs Habs Game 3
He goes down, gets back up and just stood still on the wrong side of the net while both Byron and whoever else was there were just chilling in front.Still trying to figure out how Johnson is responsible for Murray being unable to hug the post.
If he had some semblance of hockey sense he probably would've been able to get over and make a play on Byron:
He stands still, watches Byron score, then hits the other guy...
Like come the **** on.

Murray is gonna flop around one more time in this period and it's gonna suck. He's in zero position to have to make a 2nd save.

So you can see it all here: (go technology!)
- At the ketchup bottle at around 3 seconds in, Justin Schultz fails to adequately seal off the wall. It's not an out-numbered situation, but it is not the expected result...now responsibilities shift and the zones of control alter because of the misplay out high by Schultz.
- Watch how it unfolds. Sid's original duty is new Plekanec (whoever 14 the RHS is...Byron?). Sid is set and no longer skating. Johnson panics because he's put in a tough spot and overplays a play that's originating from outside the dot line. He reads it as a 2 on 1 and plays the 2 on 1 relatively correctly for the situation he was put in, as you can see at 0:05 seconds of the video.
- Sid reacts to cover the guy going to the net because he's played with Johnson enough to know what he's going to do here. So now that passing lane is open is to 14 because Guentzel can't cover for Schultz in time (again, not the expected result) and Johnson doesn't have the panic threshold to recognize that there are two passing lanes on the play.
- Just before it ticks over to 0:07 seconds, the puck is retrieved behind the net. Sid is boxing out new Cammalleri (whoever #13 is...man, it's been a while I guess...). Johnson predictably has slid to the other side, and that now is the expected result. Schultz is never back in the play. But watch Guentzel, where does he go? Looks like he's trying to go through the tunnel to get his mouthpiece maybe...? A savvier veteran might jam that far post...he skates into the corner...Murray misses the net with his body and the unearned goal goes into the net...
I'm not saying Johnson wins an Oscar here, but Jultz lets a man slip right through him and we fail to effectively congregate near the puddle in a scramble situation with our forwards...
Look at goal #1 too...
- At 0:09 we're in pretty good shape. We have men between the puck and the net and we're out-numbering over the puck and the threats...
- At 0:11 Johnson is the only one who has really stuck to anyone, as he has the biggest threat Kotkaniemi going to the net...and he takes him clean out of the play...at 0:12 look at what happened...we lost everyone else. And it's a defenseman going to the net (d-men had the first five shots for Montreal), gets a rebound. Freeze it at 0:13 seconds when Weber gets his own rebound...four guys to the left of Murray, none to the right...the only player there who is doing his job is Johnson and Murray...

It’s always gotta be the hard way.

Proof is in the pudding.
You can break down things all you want, but when there is one guy consistently out there getting scored on, isn't it obvious who the issue is?

You can ignore the game all you want and take 8 periods of hockey stats to make a case...
I'm not saying Johnson is great, but he's had a fine season, one of the best of his career...he deserves a chance to figure it out...

I’m just a girl, looking at a hockey team, asking them to love her
AND WIN THIS #^£#!?&$@% GAME.
AND WIN THIS #^£#!?&$@% GAME.

And maybe, just perhaps, the reason why it looks like everyone else is missing their assignments when Johnson is out there is because he has no clue what the **** he's doing and is making things more difficult for everyone else.
GDT Pens vs Habs Game 3
So f**king what. He is singlehandedly torpedoing the Pens when he's on the ice, right noe. When the games actually **** matter.Source of the post he's had a fine season, one of the best of his career

Playoffs seem like an inopportune time to “figure it out.”

This is nothing new, but I've never seen a goalie take as much time getting up as Matt Murray.
