Rodrigues is plucky but he can't really produce at the NHL level...he's a fourth liner for us...I thought Kahun looked very good after a slow start here...Sheary isn't better than Kahun for me...
Assuming Rodrigues over Lafferty is a decent upgrade, right?
First 20 games Lafferty? No.
Last 20 games Lafferty? Meh, maybe...
I assume first 20 games Lafferty isn't resurfacing.. hmph

it appears they are heat maps of what each player does compared to league average in shots, penalties drawn and penalties taken "after accounting for teammates, competition and coaching" however they calc that

Kahun was only a 1/2 step behind what Zucker brings. paid the farm for Zucker, gives away Kahun.
While not opposed to Rutheford, I am officially off of the Rutherford bandwagon.
Incredible post. Complete overrated Kahun while shitting on a Hall of Fame GM.
Or 100% accurate comparison between the two players right now, and I didn't shity on Rutherford, but whatever.
At the time of the Zucker trade: Neither is physical or anything special defensively, so there isn't "that" aspect to worry about.
Kahun had 27 points 48 gms 13:24/gm (25pts 12:11 ev time)
Zucker had 29 points 45 gms 15:54/gm (20pts 13:32 ev time)

I don't agree with just carving out a 40-game sample to try to equate player asset value.

I don't love it, but I certainly see the rationale. I think Sullivan does his best coaching when he has versatility and let that dictate things. He has a good feel for the flow of the game - who is going and who isn't. Look at Hornqvist this year. His usage is all over the map. When the team needs a spark, 72 crawls over the boards. When the skill guys are going, 72 turns into the grocery stick. Not all coaches have that good of a feel. So giving him options is a good idea. Sheary and Kahun are really a wash. Kahun might have a higher ceiling, but Sheary can play a few more roles. Plus Sheary has proven to work with our number 1 center in the past. Kahun was really stapled into that third line. When you get into a seven game slugest against a division opponent, being able to wrinkle your line up is a big deal.

I don't really get moving him unless they knew the ask was going to be too much.
With needing to sign McCann and Sid’s bff pretty much any ask from Kahun was gonna be too much.
