Weak 2020 draft = had to include Addison.
Losing him sucks.
Zucker should be a great fit with this team and the style they play. It's a trade that a team in "win now" mode makes. All things considered (I hate that cap hit), it's a decent trade.

I don't really like losing Addison, especially on the trajectory he was heading on.
Hopefully Zucker works out well.

Eventually we are going to need the draft picks and prospects we keep trading away.
I get why they did it. I don't hate it but I don't love it. I don't think zucker is a difference maker I guess?

Maybe in 7-10 years we will need picks and prospects. Right now? Trade them babies for difference makers.Eventually we are going to need the draft picks and prospects we keep trading away.

Well, I guess to entertain the question...it's not that Zucker is a difference maker, per se...but he's a cost-controlled top-six winger for us. Ok, so we established that. But I look at the trade like this: it's a reward. It's a reward for making it through all the injuries and churning out a first-place-caliber record. So he paid a good price to get them some support...that's the lens which I view this trade through...and it makes it tough not to root for. Also...Yucky is gone. Hooray for that...seeya in the KHL, studly...Eventually we are going to need the draft picks and prospects we keep trading away.

Rutherford might be playing 4D chess and making Kreiders price tag too high for any of the competitors to afford

So essentially, this was Kessel for Zucker with some AHL d-men (though highly-ranked AHL d-men but AHL d-men nonetheless) thrown in. Isn't this sort of what Rutherford wanted to do with Kessel in the offseason anyway?
I feel like we're in good shape with d-men for this year especially once Dumo comes back. So with Guentzel out, they need to find his replacement and maybe we've got that with Zucker. As Mikey says, the time at the top is winding down so we have to jump at the opportunities when they're there.

Finding guys like petterson, marino, and mccann allows you to deal prospects and picks more freely

This team is going to suck in five to seven years. And that's OK. The future beyond 87 and 71 is murky so this team needs to try and win a Cup for as long as the two of them can play at an elite level.

time to win is NOW... team is better tonight than they were this morning... spiritfan doesn’t give a flying puck about prospects and draft picks which are all unknowns... pens fans always worry bout the future and are just gonna wake up dead tomorrow... spiritfan wants a parade today not tomorrow... GMJR aint done yet either... go all in... balls to the wall.....

Good riddance to Yuk. I really don’t care about trading 1st, I’ll miss Addison but the Pens top four seems to be set for at least the next two seasons (and I honestly don’t expect Letang to play anywhere but here), and I’m excited to get Zucker and see what he can do here, but hoo boy is there going to be some salary cap magic taking place this offseason. Bjugstad’s injury might just become life threatening.

Since the Hossa acquisition, who has been the best deadline pick up?
Pens trade Galchenyuk, 2020 1st, and Addison for Zucker
The one I was most excited about at the time would be Iginla. The correct answer though is maybe Schultz or Ian Cole?
