For conversation's sake, did Addison soften the potential blow of losing Schultz this offseason or is that a bridge too far...for you, or anyone...

I would've seen Addison as a potential (if he continued upward trajectory) Letang replacement, in the sense that both are good puck moving RHS D, once Letang retired, and insurance in case Marino leaves while Letang is still here.

However, I realize there's a lot of things that could happen between now and that time, so who really knows, and maybe Addison's ceiling isn't as high as Letang's.

Yeah, I don't think Addison's ceiling holds a candle to Letang's...Letang is a better skater and athlete, and really just better at everything relative to their peer group...we're talking about a top-10 or 15 d-man in the league probably...Addison has middle pairing potential probably, no more...

Considering he’s a Swiss Army knife of a player I’m very satisfied. Anchor the 3rd line? Yep. Play scoring winger? Yep. Play defensively responsible hockey? Yep.

The guy has the pedigree to be a good player for a long time. It seems like Florida just wanted him to be something he wasn’t.
