And people were worried about Murray's next contract...

Now I'm worried.

That's hockey, baby?

I guess it's early but that was a beat down. The Jets look good. The Pens were struggling all night.
I feel a little bad for Scheifele. That was a sweet goal that got overturned.

I....disagree. As in every game, the other team had some close chances that didn't go in as well. The Pens certainly didn't dominate and get the raw end of the deal due to posts/bad calls/infamous hot goalie, etc.
To my uneducated eye it looked like pretty bad hockey to me. 12 giveaways credited to Pens, 4 for the Jets. And boring to boot.
Kahun, what a disappointment thus far.
Murray is what he is - my biggest fear is they sign him for 8 years and any amount of money at all. I guess they'll have to give him a few years, but when the Cup window finishes closing, I would like them to be in a position to let him walk away as a UFA at about the same time.

holy carp I'm glad I didn't have to watch that garbage. I visited a friend last night that's dealing with a terminally ill family member and even though she's a hockey fan she doesn't have Center Ice so we were stuck with Canes and Preds games.
I did hear on the Sat radio on the way over, "....and Letang with the turnover right in the slot...."

Yeah, disagree with Sullivan here. I didn't think we played well...I didn't think we had a lot of real good chances...there were a couple of net-mouth scrambles and this and that...but it was standard fare...the fact of the matter is that a team with <300 games of NHL experience on defense beat a team with 3,000 games of NHL experience pretty handily...and we were really out-played by their defense too boot...we had good games from Schultz, Marino and kind of Pettersson...they were much better, their 18 year old blew one right through Murray unscreened...

My big hope for Murray this year is that Jarry somehow shows himself to be a capable starting goalie.

We gonna blame the goalie for a 1-2 record when we scored one goal in each of the loses? Cool beans.

Murray struggled. But then, so did everybody else.

On a more favorable night that Sid redirect on the rush would've found slightly less leg pad and gone right it. That's about the only thing I can think of, though....I didn't think we had a lot of real good chances...

I'm not blaming him for anything. He's just a usually mediocre to very occasionally good goalie who is in line for big payday and this franchise has enough cap issues already. We gonna blame the goalie for a 1-2 record when we scored one goal in each of the loses? Cool beans.

Was at the game.
- The defense was trash, and GM and coach appear to be at odds on who to play. It's like they NEED to get JJ into the line-up to appease something, and they went away from what worked at Columbus and started shifting the d-pairs even more for the lower half. It showed big-time in the game. Either cut the guy, or trade him for nothing - it was a mistake whether you keep him, cut him, or trade him.
- Marino seemed to be the "best" one out there.
- Aston-Reese really did have his soul snatched on that hit a few years ago. He hasn't been the same since that hit. The turnover on goal two was just horrible, he passed it directly to Ehlers.
- Simon continues to be a black hole, and I don't see where anyone says this kid has hands, just don't see it.

Bad goals lead to bad results. I'm not blaming Murray squarely, but he redirected an otherwise neutral-favorable game script against us with his donkeyisms...

Pairings needed to change, we dressed 7 D.
Agree on most of the rest...ZAR had some golden opportunities and still only got a primary assist on the Ehlers goal...Simon has been more disappointing to me early on this year than he had in any previous season...

I think my confusion/complaint was why the needed to dress 7 D at all. The obvious answer would be to sit JJ, if you like Gudbranson that much.
I don't believe it to be a showcase issue, because JJ has been in the league long enough, what you've seen is what you're getting, maybe worse.

Is it time to start #SullyWatch? Obviously, it's not his fault with the personnel issues, but the coach is usually the first (and easiest) way to jolt a team.

Dude signed a 4 year extension in July, so my guess would be a solid "No".Is it time to start #SullyWatch? Obviously, it's not his fault with the personnel issues, but the coach is usually the first (and easiest) way to jolt a team.

Yeah, this looks like a personnel issue...it's not a very good roster...and I don't see a lot of good outs...we have a shot at making the playoffs, of course...but the roster is full of very average players...plus, 87, 71, 59, 58 and 8...I have some time for 19 and 4 as well...the rest are various shades of gray...
