Biggest negative takeaway. They were whooped. Crosby looked average. Even when they used to lose there always felt like if there was just a bit more time they'd win. Nope. This was far too reminiscent of the Islanders series.

Biggest positive is it's the first game. And Malkin looked very good.

They seem to be a team that if they learn how to play a winning system as hard as anyone else they could have a chance at the cup because of the elite few thriving. And i won't put it past them improving their effort and concentration to the highest level. But that's my sparse vision to getting a cup. Can't just rely on talent anymore. But they have the hardest effort leader in the league driving the team and if Malkin is on board they can do it.

God what a boring game!

I remember when HCMS first took over, the Pens were damn fun to watch. Not anymore. I could really see the difference in Geno’s skating but Sid was invisible.

I bet on Buffalo to make the playoffs this year. It will be tough in that division, and I don't necessarily believe they can really do it, but the potential is there and they'll get close at least...

While I am not surprised by this result, I'm not panicked...let's see where we're at in 4 to 6 weeks, as there's a lot of new faces and new roles...

Wasn't my favorite game though, I'll tell ya that for free...Geno line looked good...
