My first ban/suspension from lgp was due to a "Lets remember Orpik" thread when he first went to the Caps.

Hard worker.
Great skater.
Strong as an ox.

Beyond that, I didn’t care for him on this team or on the caps, of course. Hope he learns how to be a normal person in his retirement.

I fondly remember him routinely crosschecking opponents into the Penguins goalie du jour. And when Therrien put him on wing that one time.

Underrated orpik moment. When he got absolutely plowed into the boards in that last minute of game 7, lesser men would have gotten wrecked and slowly hobbled to the bench. He took the next shift, IIRC. Tough hombre.

Orpik's time in Pittsburgh brings back a lot of happy memories. I always chuckled at the old van with free candy written on the side driven by Brooks. Then there was the cut out they had of him that they put on the ice to practice. The stare and the shift that were already mentioned above. I totally forgot about when Therrien put him on wing!
Overall a good guy that had a good career in the NHL.

The crosschecking then the absurd crying he'd do when he got called for it.

I'll always remember him as the guy who wanted to strip Sid of captaincy when he was hurt.

That is not something that I have an issue with. Someone else should have gotten the C when Crosby was out. Any and all of the times that he is out. There should always be a C in the lineup.
