Jugs seems like I'm going to be watching the hockey version of Polanco. Nice size, great shot, good potential.. but I have this feeling if he sticks around for a couple years I'll be wondering why he can't ever put up 20 goals

Tried to find some encouraging YouTube material of Tanev. Came away empty.
I kind of have a bad feeling about this now.

Yeah, because video of a 4th liner from a town that may not even exist would be prevalent on YouTube. Do they even have YouTube in Winnipeg?

I’d expect a hit compilation, considering his reputation. Instead I found a couple decent hits, a couple cheap shots and him getting demolished in a few fights.Yeah, because video of a 4th liner from a town that may not even exist would be prevalent on YouTube. Is he more of a Darren Helm high volume/low impact guy?

Must not be illustrious enough to warrant it.

He's a lot like Jordan Staal, who would disappear for multiple games in a row. His potential always exceeds his production.Seems to be a lot of Jugs dislike here. What's the problem with him?

Nah, he's a fake big guy...not particularly useful...was one of our worst players in the playoffs...

He's a giant puss. I don't think he has the mentality to succeed as a 3C or the finish to be useful as a scoring line winger. Pens need cap space from somewhere and I'd rather it be from making Jugs disappear than getting rid of Rusty, though it might result in McCann playing 3C, which I'm not particularly fond of either.
Now that Bonino is like the 5th center in Nashville I wonder if he would quit being a giant dodint boy and be open to coming back here as 3C.

As all teams do...
Though I just had a thought, the forecheck game of Tanev and Rust on the same line kind of excites me...I'm gonna build out from that for a moment...

Cans, Jugs, and TBoobs? We need someone for the second line.

Not that we'll have consistent lines probably...but let's give the new potentially-skilled players a chance with Geno...they're probably just good enough to be able to keep up with him and just bad enough to give him the puck all the time just like he likes...

I'm not terribly familiar with him, but this Agozzino guy has some wheels and a bit of a plus shot...if I'm Adam Johnson, I'm probably thinking, "that's my spot in the org..."

Horny took a tour on line 4 in 2016 IIRC, and it turned out fine. It should be one of our standard “change it up” tactics throughout the year.As all teams do...

He's a rotation guy for me to keep him fresh...if he's cool with his minutes being managed, I'm cool with it. In the 3rd, maybe he's up there with Sid for a few...maybe he provides defense in Kahun or Chucky's spot on line two...he's a reliable player...I just don't want to kill his competitive fire by putting him with Teddy Bluegers...that can be frustrating...knowing that when you pass the puck, you're probably not getting it back...

Other than one season that was greatly shortened due to injury, Horny scored 20+ goals in every season from 09-10 to 17-18 and if it wasn't for injury probably would have hit the mark last year as well. I'm not sure a guy whose used to putting up that number (and competes like Horny does) is gonna be thrilled about being put out to pasture on the 4th line.

Yeah, I don't think that's how you dress it up though. It's a pitch count and it's protecting the meaty investment...he isn't stapled to the fourth line...he rotates up and down as necessary...in a 4-0 game, he doesn't play a lot, 11, 12 minutes...in a tight game, it goes up and a Kahun or Simon takes the bullet...when we need a spark, he lights it for a few shifts with Sid or whatever...I don't think he needs to get force fed 18 minutes, and he's my spirit animal...

I was surprised to see some of Galchenyuk's goals coming from in front of the net. Are we looking at him getting some PP time there rotating with Horndog and Jake?

I think he can probably go in a more pure shooting hole, because I don't think he would be quite as good of a puck retriever as those other two...but sometimes you find weird magic formulas with power plays...like Ryan Whitney and Sid for no obvious reason...
