I don't like that the team suddenly moved away from what made it successful in the two cup runs, all because of some boogieman GMJR created in his mind regarding a certain Washington Capital.

Adding Jack Johnson just made it that much worse. And now we're a team with no identity because the majority of our speed and skill guys are hampered by shitty d-men who hit people but can't move the puck and drag their linemates down with them.

I think any "identity" problem with this team has been caused by his hand. And he doesn't seem to have the self-awareness to realize that he's created most of the issues the team has because he got his panties in a bunch over one player.

That and it seems like, as far as the offseason has gone, every team in our division save for CBJ has gotten better or maintained their standing. We've arguably gotten worse, at least offensively, and have done nothing to address the massive elephant in the room that's dragging literally everyone who steps on the ice with him down.

I want to restate how funny I find it that when something bad happens it is because Rutherford is a senile of fart that need to just go to the 4 o'clock buffet... but when something good happens it is all thank god for Botterill and Guerin!!!

I'm less upset about that. Dude's a UFA and they always get overpaid a bit. $3.5MM is the same level as Rust, Clutterbuck, Sobotka, Eller, and less than that waste Tanner Pearson. Tanev works his ass off, blocks shots, finishes his hits, is a top level PKer, and managed to put points on the board last year. It's too much money but I don't know that it's an egregious amount.... if it was for like a two or three year deal to see if he can build off the 29 points he had last season. Six years is just too long for a guy whose worth relies on taking a beating.

This is almost as bad as the JMFJ deal. Except that I know JJ wasn't going to be good; at least there is some question that Tanev might be competent. Just, yikes.
