No chat about Rutherford saying today that Kessel vetoed a trade? Or did I completely miss that?

Color me stupid, but I would rather keep JJ than paying someone to take him. Unless we need to add something of little value to get another player that is slightly overpaid.

Please don't trade away the first round pick unless we get a young and proven player for it.

Is Bjugstad really that bad as a 3C that we need to trade for one? Then I guess we would need to trade Bjugstad for something else since he loses his place on the team?

Predictably, I hated Jugs in the playoffs...he just doesn't have a killer instinct to him...I think I would like him as a second line winger than a third line center...

Just say it mikey. Dude is a gigantic puss. He sucks at center and putting him on 2nd line wing would drag that line down.

And if the rumored deal is correct, thank god. It was supposedly Kessel for Zucker. $5.5M for basically the same physicality, nearly the same D and 1/2 of the offense. Kessel >> Zucker, it would have been a bad bad trade for the Penguins.

I feel like people saying "We should keep Jack Johnson", both here and elsewhere, never actually watched Jack Johnson play.

He appeared to be playing better the last part of the season and most agreed with that here.

The deal was Kessel and Johnson for Zucker, Rask and a 3rd.

Yes, Jugs is/are soft...I don't necessarily think he would drag down a line because he can shoot...if he's just a big finisher, but offers nothing else, well, that's not worst thing in the world. But I'd want 20 ES goal from him...which might be a tall order...

I think a couple avenues that might be explored are something like Rust/Johnson to Ottawa for like the rights to Cody Ceci or maybe a 2nd/3rd in 2020...or something like Rust/Johnson to Detroit for like Hickets and the SJ 2nd...assuming we don't want to try to reclamation-project our way through DeKeyser, who had a rough year...

Definitely. In fact, I don't think he should have been scratched at the start of the postseason. And yes, I know he was trash in the games he played in.

Unsurprisingly, Kevin Stevens is the only one in the meeting who looks like a slob.

And then he regressed heavily to the mean.

A good month because your goaltender is playing his best hockey of the season doesn't make you a competent player. It means you had someone making up for your faults.

Wasn't there direct quote from Fenton saying that Rask was never part of the discussion?

i've never seen this opinion stated anywhere. nobody wants to keep johnson. the discussion is how much do we give up in the package that sends him away. and if that price is too high, then it may be prudent to keep him.

I can kind of get the sense of who they are talking about on a couple of those players...that doesn't mean they like them or dislike them...

Tommy Westlund was probably talking about Anttoni Honka regarding defensive play...I think Andy Chiodo is talking about Isaiah Saville...Luc Gauthier is probably talking about Jakob Pelletier...

I want to say that I heard it on the NHL channel on SiriusXM on the drive home a day or two after the "Kessel nixed it" stuff came out. But I am usually just yelling at people out the window so I do not always pay attention to who is actually talking.

I wouldn't blame Kessel one bit if he shot down that deal. I would have, too.

Has there been any legitimate conjecture as to which teams are on his "will accept a trade to" list?
