How bout this: we dress Malkin up as the goalie so nobody can tell its him. At a certain point, he skates down the ice, removes his helmet, and BOOM. Knuckle puck time.

The 3C thing is pretty obviously about ice time. I’m not sure why it always goes into matchup territory.

Maybe we'll revisit the idea when Blueger is able to generate more offense than 95% of the rest of league even in a down season.

No, it's just not a unique comment. We're talking about a 90 second difference in ice time...so if it's as simple as "I want to write 71 on the board in the 3C hole to show him that I don't approve of his fairly typical antics..." but then the games go on, basically, as usual...then fine, but I think that message will be lost in translation.
Sometimes this is just the price of doing business when it comes to elite skill.
