I'm a firm believer that Malkin and Kessel are better a apart than together.
Malkin is in the process of realizing that he’s slipping out of the zeitgeist and the world is catching up to him. And the only way to keep up is to not just rely on his talent. Cue pouty pants. I don’t know if it matters who he’s with.

I don’t want to get too in the weeds with this point becaue it’s not a hill I choose to die on, but it still stands. Things getting harder for him. And malkin’s ego is one of his key drivers. This was a vintage 3rd. He still has it. But it’s not the same, ulfy. And I think it’s not his favorite thing.
